The founder of martial art Aikido, Ueshiba Morihei, once said, “I am a Child of Kumano.”

A new tour tracing his connections to the Kumano area and his birthplace is now available!

It features private training sessions and calligraphy writing at Tanabe Dojo, visits to Ueshiba’s childhood residence, his burial place, and a self-guided trip to the sacred shrines of Kumano and dramatic highlight walks along the Kumano Kodo.

Practicing Aikido in the birthplace of its founder, Ueshiba Morihei, and walking the sacred land that shared his connections and inspiration, is the dream trip of a lifetime for Aikido enthusiasts.

An original self-guide book featuring historic pictures of Ueshiba’s life and times in Kumano is included.
